I truly believe that most of life’s greatest joys are found in the simplest things. I also believe that living simply can-and should-be done with style! That juxtaposition of simplicity and style is what Mayberry Meets Manhattan is all about.
I love everything related to home, family and hospitality! There’s nothing I enjoy more than having a house full of family and friends and it’s important to me to create an inviting and beautiful space to share with the people I love most.
I’m a lifestyle blogger living in Bentonville, Arkansas. I’m a Wife, Mom to two daughters, and (my favorite newest title) I’m also a Grammy! Ours is a blended family and Clay and I have a combined total of four daughters, four sons by marriage and four precious Grandchildren with another one on the way! When we are all together it is loud and lively but SO much fun!
When my kids were small and the budget was much tighter, out of necessity I got very good at finding creative ways to decorate our home without breaking the bank. Now, I still try to stay budget friendly whenever possible, even though I bet Clay would beg to differ! It’s a fun challenge!
My professional background is in Sales and Product Development and I currently work full time for a Seasonal Décor Company and travel quite a bit overseas as part of my job. (Just as an FYI…work travel does NOT usually equal ‘fun’ travel. There’s a big difference, people!) Clay is a Vice President for a local Realty Company and we also own and manage a local Airbnb. We have owned and remodeled several homes over the years and three years ago, I designed, and Clay built our current home in Downtown Bentonville. We fell in love with this unique community and wanted to be part of the lifestyle here and now we couldn’t dream of living anywhere else!
Mayberry Meets Manhattan was created as an outlet for me to share some of the tips and ideas with you that I’ve learned over the years. Most will be focused around Entertaining, Home Design and DIY projects but I’m a pretty big travel junky (I think I was part gypsy in another life) so there will be plenty of Travel tips and recommendations as well. I’ll also occasionally share some deeper lessons that I’ve learned as a Wife, Mom and Woman of Faith.
I’m so happy that you’re here! Thank you for stopping by my little part of the web. My hope is that Mayberry Meets Manhattan will help to inspire you on your own journey!
Clay and I are fortunate to live less than a five-minute walk from the Downtown Bentonville Square and the Greenway biking trails. We are located less than one mile from the famous Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and less than a half mile from The Momentary, a new modern art museum opening in 2020. We are also within walking distance to multiple restaurants and shopping.
When we built our home, we decided to build a detached garage due to the shape and size of the lot and chose to add a studio apartment above the garage as part of the design. We finished the apartment in February of 2019 and have been active Airbnb hosts (now Superhosts!) ever since. We love meeting new people and hosting has been a pleasure so far. If you would like to visit Bentonville and want to explore staying in our rental, check it out!
Getting older is not for wimps. It just isn’t. I am honest enough-and vain enough-to admit that I am fighting it every step of the way. And.It.Is.HARD!! What used to be able to be accomplished with a crash 3-day diet and a week of Zumba classes, now takes actual healthy diet changes and weights and such. But I digress…it just comes with the territory. As they say…getting old is a privilege not shared by all, so I’ll choose to be thankful.
That said, a few years ago I began to notice some signs of aging. A friend introduced me to an amazing skin care line, called Rodan and Fields. It was life changing!! Once I started using the products I was hooked and became a consultant. I don’t have to be pushy, the products speak for themselves. If you’d like to know more about what Rodan and Fields could do for you, check it out!
